My 2 year old totally gets this and is very good at matching things which are the same!! It is a great way for us to bond and spend time together; like most toddlers Amelia likes constant attention and I find these type of games hold her concentration very well.
As well as being good for pattern recognition and memory I also find these are excellent toys that promote language development. I always explain what I see on the matching cards and Amelia is very good at repeating words back to me. Sometimes I will expand on a particular card, i.e. what color is the cat, what should we call the cat. I like to think each matching card has a story to tell, in my opinion these best toddler board games provide so many learning opportunities.

I love the fact the cube is so big! Initially Amelia loved throwing the cube around rather than playing the actual game.
Then she wanted Mummy and Daddy to do the dance featured on each card! We demonstrated each time and she tried to copy.
I have to say this is suitable for older kids as well as toddlers!! I know my 6 year old niece would love it!
