Best Toddler Board Games for Boys and Girls
Being a Mother of a almost 2 year old I have the best scoop on the BEST Toddler board games suitable for boys and girls! I loved introducing my little girl to board games at a young age because they are really great for problem solving and reasoning!
I will feature the top toddler board games right here. There are a range on offer including traditional board games and some toddler match games which are brilliant for memory. I really want my little girl to do well at school so I make sure I spend some time playing games everyday even if it is for as little as ten minutes.
I know her attention span will grow as she gets older. In my opinion these are definitely amongst the top learning toys for toddlers!
The 3 Best Board Games for Toddlers You Outta Have!
Without further ado I will show you the three best board games for toddlers based on my experiences with my own kids and nieces and nephews.
Please remember no two toddlers are the same and they all learn at different rates!! I have experienced a vast difference between my little girl and little boy even at this young age!
I let my toddler play some preschool board games and provide assistance to help them. One of my kids favorites is a game called Crazy Claw. It is great for testing memory and fine motor skills. You can also encourage younger kids to learn colors and count the balls.
One of the best toddler board games for 18 month olds! Comes with a large plush cube and 48 cards. These cards give your toddler a task to complete! Obviously they will need some help from Mum and Dad. I think this is a fabulous learning toy.
Some of the tasks are , ‘Roar like a lion’, ‘Find something red’, ‘Spin around 2 times’, ‘Wave your arms’.
Granted an 18 month old is unlikely to be able to find something red, but this is where Mum and Dad come into show them examples of things which are colored red. This is a great way to introduce colors.
I Love Toddler Matching Games
Some of the best board games for toddlers involve matching. These are most suitable for older toddlers as opposed to babies because you need them to understand the concept. My 2 year old totally gets this and is very good at matching things which are the same!! It is a great way for us to bond and spend time together; like most toddlers Amelia likes constant attention and I find these type of games hold her concentration very well.
As well as being good for pattern recognition and memory I also find these are excellent toys that promote language development. I always explain what I see on the matching cards and Amelia is very good at repeating words back to me. Sometimes I will expand on a particular card, i.e. what color is the cat, what should we call the cat. I like to think each matching card has a story to tell, in my opinion these best toddler board games provide so many learning opportunities.
I had to feature some toddler matching games here because I find them lots of fun indeed!! In fact so much so I made my own free toddler matching game for Amelia!
Move and Groove Dance Board Game for Toddlers as Young as 18 Months
I have searched high and low for the best toddler board games and was very impressed with this one. Not many board games cater for 18 month olds but this one certainly does. Move and Groove Game
Amelia loves to dance so it was only natural I would select a game which incorporated this!
I love the fact the cube is so big! Initially Amelia loved throwing the cube around rather than playing the actual game.
Then she wanted Mummy and Daddy to do the dance featured on each card! We demonstrated each time and she tried to copy.
I have to say this is suitable for older kids as well as toddlers!! I know my 6 year old niece would love it!
It is easy to store this toy as the cards fit onto the side of the cube.
